I'm sorry!
A lot of people who read The English Advisor (thank you!) thought that I wanted to teach you to use taboo English and make mistakes all the time. But that's not true, and I'm sorry it seemed that way. To show how sorry, here I am again with The English Advisor II.
To make everything clear from the very beginning: I'm not an enemy of beautiful, accurate English. If your ambition is to master "perfect English", that's great - and I promise the English Advisors won't hurt you! But if you're interested in communicating in English -with or without "perfect" grammar, pronunciation, etc. - I hope these books will help.
The main idea behind the English Advisors is simple: Not everyone needs to be 100% accurate in English all the time, because 100% accuracy isn't always necessary for effective communication. If you can be accurate when you communicate in English, that's wonderful. But a lot of people who want to use English worry too much about details that aren't very important. They waste time and energy feeling depressed about their "poor English" instead of using it effectively.
So the English Advisors try to explain some of the things that
Polish learners worry (or wonder) about. The books try to tell you which mistakes can really mess up communication (and not just your final exam). That way, you'll know when you really need to concentrate on accuracy, and when it's OK to relax a little and enjoy your English.
The Advisors also try to clarify some areas of English that most of the books widely available in Poland don't talk about. Sometimes these areas are connected with grammar, vocabulary, etc. But when you're using English to communicate, knowing something about the culture and manners of English-speaking countries can sometimes be more important than linguistic accuracy. So The English Advisor // includes a lot of conversational tactics and cultural observations. I hope you enjoy them, and learn them, and use them!
