The book you are about to read was written with the intention to fill a vast gap existing in Polish market regarding English books on economics. English books are hardly available in libraries and very expensive in bookshops. On the other hand, the number of students studying in English is constantly growing. That is why the authors decided to write a book for all those students who in the course of their studies are supposed to become familiar with basic economic notions.
The book is intended mostly for students from the Chemistry Faculty studying Environmental Protection and Management, but it may also be used by students from the Faculty of Management and Economics. Each chapter consists of new concepts and terms that are brought in it, theoretical introduction explaining the crucial notions and relations and activities for practising. The activities are divided into three groups. The first is "true or false" test in which students are required to distinguish the correct statements from the incorrect ones. The next group, questions for revision and discussion, is perhaps more demanding. For some of them answers can be found in the text, but sometimes they require thorough and independent thinking. The last part, multiple choice test consists of several questions with possible answers delivered. There is only one correct answer to each of those questions. Complete answers are provided to all exercises at the end of the book.
Although all essential topics are covered in the book and quite many exercises are included, you have to bear in mind that it is a book to accompany lectures. In other words, use it along with lectures, not instead of them.
